P2P Car Sharing in Singapore – Drivelah
Article content
Drivelah is a peer-to-peer (P2P) car sharing company based in Singapore. The core idea behind the P2P model is simple: the platform connects car owners with people who want to rent a vehicle.
Drivelah operates as such a platform and currently offers access to over 3,000 cars. The company has generated several million dollars in revenue to date.
Insurance
Every vehicle and trip booked through Drivelah is covered by insurance, thanks to partnerships with Tokio Marine Insurance Group and NTUC Income.
In case of damage, the standard deductible for users is 3,000 SGD. However, the company also offers programs with reduced liability — ranging between 1,000 and 1,500 SGD.
Getting Started with Car Sharing in Singapore
To get started, download the app, upload a photo of your documents, and wait for your account to be approved. Once verified, you can book a car through the platform. The app will show you the car’s location, and the owner will meet you in person to hand over the keys.
Prices vary based on the make and model of the car and are set directly by the owner.
You can also have the car delivered to your location for an additional fee of 20 SGD.
The daily mileage allowance included in the booking is determined by the car owner and is clearly displayed both in the app and on the Drivelah website.
Trip Cancellation Policy
If the user cancels their booking:
- Cancel 72 hours or more before the trip — no fees or penalties apply.
- Cancel less than 1 hour before the trip — 100% of the booking price is charged.
- Cancel less than 72 hours but more than 1 hour before the trip — 80% of the trip price is charged.
If the car owner cancels the booking, the renter is entitled to compensation of 40 SGD for the inconvenience.
Fuel Policy
Renters can choose from two options:
- Worry-free fuel — no extra fees will be charged if the car is returned without refueling.
- Standard policy — return the car with the same amount of fuel it had at the start of the rental.
If the fuel level is lower than required, the renter will be charged 4 SGD per missing liter.
