Launched in Kraków back in 2016, Traficar has since grown into one of the largest and most recognizable carsharing platforms in Poland. With a fleet of over 3,000 vehicles and availability in nearly every major city, it’s become a go-to option for short-term car rentals. The service supports all major mobile platforms — including Huawei — and uses a transparent, kilometer-based pricing model that sets it apart from many competitors.

Vehicle Fleet

Traficar doesn’t try to impress with exotic models. Instead, it focuses on practical, reliable cars — primarily from Renault and its budget brand, Dacia. The fleet is categorized in the app using official internal classifications.

In the small car segment, you’ll find models like the Renault Clio, Dacia Sandero, and the electric Renault Zoe. For compact crossovers, there’s the Renault Arkana. For cargo needs, there are Dacia Dokker vans and larger Renault Master vans. It’s a streamlined selection that’s easy to maintain and easy to spot on city streets.

The service is open to anyone aged 18 and up who holds a valid category B driver’s license. Sign-up is done through the mobile app.

Pricing and Rates

Traficar’s pricing structure is refreshingly simple: no charges per minute while driving — only per kilometer. The same applies to daily rentals, where users pay a flat rate plus distance instead of an hourly fee. For most use cases, it’s a straightforward and predictable setup.

All short-term rentals include a fixed starting fee, and prices per kilometer vary depending on the vehicle type. Smaller cars are the cheapest, while pickups and cargo vans cost more. Daily rates are slightly more cost-effective for longer trips.

There is one exception worth noting: only the Renault Clio can be returned in a different city. All other vehicles must be returned to the city where the trip began.

Service Area

Traficar vehicles can be used throughout Poland, which makes them suitable for intercity travel. That said, only Renault Clio models can be dropped off in a different city. All other vehicles must be returned to the same area where they were picked up.

Parking

Users are allowed to end their rental on public city parking spaces or within official Traficar zones. Parking outside these designated areas is permitted but not covered — any costs must be paid by the user. The app can show which zones are available for ending a trip.

Booking

After reserving a car, you get 15 minutes to reach it — free of charge. After that, the system switches to paid “pause” mode. The start fee is only applied five minutes after you unlock the car, giving you a brief grace period to cancel without charges.

Insurance and Liability

Traficar includes full coverage with every rental — both third-party (OC) and comprehensive (casco). According to the company’s official documentation, users are not held financially responsible for damages during the rental. In other words, there is no deductible.

Terms and conditions are available in both Polish and English, which is especially helpful for visitors or expats using the platform.

Final Thoughts

Traficar continues to hold its ground as one of the strongest carsharing services in Poland. With a clear, mileage-based billing model and no hidden fees, it offers an experience that’s easy to understand and plan around. The broad coverage across Polish cities adds flexibility, and the included insurance removes much of the worry.

The mobile app is stable, well-reviewed, and — unlike many competitors — available for Huawei devices. All of that adds up to a platform that feels well-polished and user-friendly.

There are a few limitations to keep in mind. Only one model (Clio) can be returned in a different city, and cross-border use is not allowed. But within Poland, Traficar is a reliable, practical solution for short and mid-range trips — without the red tape.
