Kinto Car Sharing in Singapore
Article content
Kinto car sharing is a company supported by Toyota, essentially a subsidiary of the brand that is developing carsharing services around the world.
In Singapore, the service started operating in June 2021. It follows a station-based model — the car must be returned to the same place where it was picked up.
The Kinto fleet consists exclusively of hybrid vehicles.
The choice of hybrids is not only connected with Toyota’s philosophy but also with Singapore’s government policy: the city actively encourages the use of environmentally friendly vehicles. This allows drivers to save on fuel, while using the service also becomes a contribution to “green” mobility.
Who Can Use the Service
Kinto is available to drivers who hold a Singaporean driver’s license of category B1.
The minimum age requirement is 23 years, and drivers must have at least 12 months of driving experience.
If you are not a resident of Singapore, you need to provide a valid international driving permit.
All these steps are easy to complete through the KINTO Share app for iOS and Android. After registration, the user uploads their documents, chooses a car class, and can immediately make a booking. The app is convenient because it stores the trip history, displays insurance conditions, and sends reminders about the return time.
Car Rental
Rented vehicles must be picked up and returned at Midview City, 28 Sin Ming Lane.
If necessary, you can order car delivery to any location in Singapore.
Service fees:
- Delivery or self-pickup only: $50
- Delivery and collection: $75
The minimum processing time for an order is 48 hours.
Delivery is especially convenient for busy clients: the car can be received right at home or at the office. For business trips or family travel, the service also offers the option of having the vehicle collected by a staff member. This saves time and makes the service closer to a “turnkey” format.
Rental Rates and Insurance
Class | Example Models | Approximate Price (per day) |
Economy | Toyota Altis | from $84 |
Economy+ | Toyota Camry | from $104 |
Premium | Lexus ES250 | from $132 |
Luxury | Lexus RX | from $228 |

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) options:
- CDW Basic: free of charge
- CDW Plus: $18 per night
- CDW Max: $40 per night
An important advantage of Kinto is the absence of a mileage limit. The car can be used not only for trips around the city but also for journeys to the suburbs or even across the border to Malaysia. Permission to enter West Malaysia makes the service particularly attractive for tourists and expatriates.
Rental Conditions
Kinto offers car rental with the option of booking through the mobile app, and it does not matter for how many hours you need the car — the charge is always for 24 hours.
Vehicle Return Hours
- Monday to Friday: 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
- Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays: 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level as at the beginning of the rental.
A minimum deposit of 500 U.S. dollars is required when receiving the car.
It is not possible to select a specific model: when booking, the client receives a car from the chosen class.
According to customer feedback, Kinto is valued for its simple and transparent conditions: all charges are visible in advance, and support responds quickly. Many users highlight the convenience of car delivery and the fast reaction of staff to requests.
KINTO One: Long-Term Solutions
In addition to carsharing, Toyota in Singapore promotes another service — KINTO One. This is a long-term rental and leasing solution. Unlike daily carsharing, KINTO One is designed for months or even years: the client receives a vehicle for use, while all responsibilities for insurance, maintenance, and taxes remain with the company.
This format is especially popular among corporate clients and expatriates who need a car for an extended period without purchasing one.

Competitors in the Market
The carsharing market in Singapore is competitive, and each provider has its own audience.
BlueSG was the first major electric carsharing service in the country. It is most often chosen by students and young professionals who only need a car for a few hours. However, electric vehicles are limited by range, and the return stations are not located everywhere, so for longer trips this service is not always suitable.
Tribecar focuses on low prices. With them, you can rent a car even for just a few hours, which is convenient for quick errands in the city. But along with affordable rates, clients also get an older fleet — some cars already have higher mileage, and the level of comfort is lower compared to more premium services.
The most prominent player is GetGo. The company has a huge fleet — thousands of vehicles that can be rented across the entire city. No deposit is required, and pick-up points can be found almost everywhere. At the same time, many users complain about strict penalties and additional charges that can come as an unpleasant surprise.
Against this background, KINTO stands out with its approach. The entire fleet consists of Toyota and Lexus hybrids, which are new and fuel-efficient. The service allows trips to neighboring Malaysia, something most competitors do not offer. The option to order delivery directly to a home or office makes renting convenient even for the busiest clients. An additional factor of trust is the Toyota brand itself, which guarantees vehicle quality and service standards. For this reason, Kinto is chosen by those who are looking not just for a car “for a while” but for a more reliable and comfortable solution.
App Reviews and Ratings
At the moment, the KINTO Singapore app has only a small number of reviews, but all of them are positive. On Google Play the rating is not displayed due to the limited number of evaluations. In the App Store, the picture is clearer: the app has the maximum rating of 5.0 out of 5, based on several reviews.
Users point out the convenience of booking and the high quality of the vehicles. One client wrote that the entire process through the app took only a few minutes, and the car was “as clean as new.” Another emphasized that both pick-up and return went smoothly without any delays.
Even with a small number of reviews, KINTO has immediately created a positive impression, confirming its service quality and attention to detail.
